| The Michael Chekhov Theatre Company was formed by Michael Horn in June 2003 to be
a group devoted to the “Art” of storytelling. The Company, comprised of some of NY’s hardest working Actors and Directors,
gathered on a weekly basis with in-house critique. Then, in a watershed moment, Michael Horn had an epiphany. The company would produce all of Sam Shepard’s plays. A classic American playwright, produced and acted by our own incredible company members. And yet, never did we expect the mass of support, thanks and praise from audiences and reviewers alike. The work, the storytelling: a service to the community! Who would have known? A resolution was made. We will be that company. We will be that theatre that presents ALL of the works of a great artist in one festival. The only place in the world to see an entire canon! We are a “no salaries, no free lunch bunch.” Let it be done! MCTC reflects the diversity of New York. We have wonderful and diverse members who are all based in New York and are part of the community. We, as part of MCTC, are all working towards educating the community about its history through the theatre by keeping modern American Classics alive. We are New York! Please donate to MCTC. |
