| Mr. Horn comes from a theatrical family. His parents have
directed, written, performed and taught on both coasts. In 1977, Mr. Horn founded The
West Coast Theatre Ensemble with a group of 30 young actors which included Jennifer
Jason Leigh, Rachel Ward, Joey Pantoliano, and others. He went on, as an actor, to
perform in over 100 plays and then in 1989 founded "Endangered Improv". In 1990, he
established "WIGS" (women's improv group) and in 1992 "The All Women's Shakespeare
Company". During all of 2002, Mr. Horn was auditioning actors and in 2003 he selected
20 actors and he established The Michael Chekhov Theatre Company. In the last three
years he has chosen, artistically collaborated, and produced over 40 plays such as;
"Good Woman of Setzuan" by Bertolt Brecht, "Spring Awakening" by Frank Wedekind, "The
Last Temptation of Tony" an original by Chris Pray, "The Show Might Go On" an original
by David Kosh, and numerous Sam Shepard plays. Currently, Mr. Horn has embarked on
presenting all of Sam Shepard's 45 plays, never before seen in one festival. In addition
to his principal role as a producing artistic director, Michael wears many hats in the
daily life of "The Big Little Theatre" some of which include being the box office person,
house manager, janitor, and publicist. Mr. Horn was a student of George Shdanoff; assistant
and beloved friend of Michael Chekhov. |
