Ann Bowen
True West (Director)
Ms. Bowen was a director at the original Second City in Chicago and later
formed the Pitschel Players, a group of political and social satirists, guiding them through her ten-year
run in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Her West Coast credits include the premiere of Philip Kan Gotanda's
Yohen with Danny Glover at the East West Players, The Biko Inquest at the Mark Taper Forum, Statements Under
Arrest at the Los Angeles Actors Theatre, The Island with Danny Glover and Carl Lumbly at the Matrix Theatre
(winner of the Dramalogue Best Director Award), Don Juan at the Odyssey Theatre, Absaloms Song at the Los
Angeles Theatre Center, and A Lesson From Aloes at Berkley Repertory. In New York, Ms. Bowen has directed
the works of Roger Bowen, Athol Fugard, David Mamet, Joe Orton, Harold Pinter, John Patrick Shanley, George
Bernard Shaw, and Bertolt Brecht. Ann is a member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers.
