James got his start in the good ol’ days of “live” TV, drama and the beginnings of the Off-Broadway movenment, appearing with the famous New York Shakespeare Festival, and other classics. James appeared with the likes of the late, great Colleen Dewhurst, James Earl Jones, Phillip Bosco, and John Cullum. Broadway found James in the original production of Oliver, and supporting Dustin Hoffman in Jimmy Shine. James has also had extensive experience in the Regional Theatre, appearing at the Washington Arena Theatre, Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, Philadelphia Theatre of the arts, the Barter Theatre of Virginia, and many others. A bass-baritone, James has appeared in over fifty roles, in various summer and winter stock companies, in contemporary drama and musicals.
